Review: Bidding on Brooks @KatyRegnery

Title: Bidding on Brooks
Series: The Winslow Brothers, Book 1
Publisher: Self- Published
Author: Katy Regnery
Genre: Contemporary Romance

★ – 5 Stars!

Summary
Bidding on Brooks is the first of four books about the Philadelphia-based, wildly-handsome Winslow brothers who are all on the look-out for love.

(Except Preston. He’s been down that road before and still has the scars to prove it. And maybe Cameron, because he’s super hot, but too hot-headed to be decent boyfriend material…)

Railroaded into a bachelor auction by his sister, Jessica, Brooks Winslow asks his friend, Skye Sorenson, to bid on him to avoid the possibility of any romantic entanglements. Fiercely competitive and protective of those he cares for, Brooks was profoundly affected by the loss of his father at an early age. A witness to his mother’s terrible loneliness and his siblings’ grief, the ex-Olympian has never allowed himself to fall in love.

Skye Sorenson, the plucky mechanic at Sorenson Marina, where Brooks moors his three sailboats, is a credible sailor in her own right…and has quietly lusted after Brooks for years. But her longstanding friendship with Brooks has always made romance seem impossible.

When Skye agrees to bid on Brooks, the two cast off for a weeklong ocean adventure on Brooks’ sailboat, The Zephyr, where the last thing Skye expects to lose is her heart.

Return to the world created in the English Brothers books with this fresh foursome of scorching hot Winslow Brothers!

Review
Katy, what in the world do you do to me?
I absolutely love how Ms. Regnery takes us on a journey with her characters. You will experience depth, emotions, turmoil, sadness, happiness.. well, let’s just say a little bit of everything. We all go through so much in a lifetime, and this author takes us through it, we witness character build, and transformation. You truly fall in love with them.
Brooks, he is oh, so broken, but yet so charming, handsome, wealthy, and overall very reserved. He has so much heartache, but learns how to take the wheel. He doesn’t let anyone get too close, but yet he realizes just how much of him is falling apart.

Skye, who knew she could use her magic. Brooks and her have been friends for a very long time, and it seems Brooks was hiding most of his life away from her, but she didn’t give up. There friendship started when Skye was ten, but it didn’t come off weird at all. Their relationship was very genuine.
I loved how she helped pulled him out of darkness, and how he turned around. Brooks is a keeper, but Skye, she is a gem. A one in a life time gem. She is loyal, fun, passionate… one true, forever friend.

They have a lot in common. You don’t realize it until it is all laid out, now they have a bond that will never be broken, and who knew it would all start because Brooks wanted her to Bid on him in a Bachelor Auction that his sister set up. I really enjoyed the Auction scene, I was pulled right into the book. I could imagine the dress Skye was wearing, her hair do, everything. This book was also a dual POV, you can get inside Brooks and Skye’s thoughts which I always love that.

There was one character that I was hoping would come back in the book, Clay! He had some sound advice for Skye and his personality shined like a star! Oh, it was like watching a rainbow, seriously.

About the Author
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katy Regnery started her writing career by enrolling in a short story class in January 2012. One year later, she signed her first contract and Katy’s first novel was published in September 2013.

Katy’s first modern fairytale romance, The Vixen and the Vet, was nominated for a RITA® in 2015 and won the 2015 Kindle Book Award for romance. Katy’s boxed set, The English Brothers Boxed Set, Books #1–4, hit the USA Today bestseller list in 2015, and her Christmas story, Marrying Mr. English, appeared on the list a week later. In May 2016, Katy’s boxed set, The Winslow Brothers Boxed Set, Books #1-4, became a New York Times bestseller.

Katy lives in the relative wilds of northern Fairfield County, Connecticut, where her writing room looks out at the woods, and her husband, two young children, two dogs, and one Blue Tonkinese kitten create just enough cheerful chaos to remind her that the very best love stories begin at home.
