Summary
Having it all isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

When Sarah Sullivan’s perfect life blows up in front of her, she finds herself crawling back to the one place she never saw herself returning: Home.

At thirty-one, Sarah had it all. Perfect job, perfect boyfriend, perfect life. When all that is taken away from her, she is left heartbroken and angry and desperate enough to let her life swallow her whole…for a while.

Fending off love and the pursuit of happiness completely, Sarah vows to pick up the pieces of her shattered life. She creates a list of goals for herself—starting with a much needed shower—and constructs a plan to dig herself out of her rut. What she doesn’t plan for is meeting the arrogant new employee her parents have hired to work on an addition to their home. Enter Jack Calloway, the handsome, charming, lickable foreman with an insatiable effect on Sarah’s girly parts.

Jack accepts the job, but gets more than he bargained for. Unable to ignore his racing hormones—and calm his temper—over the obnoxious woman who clouds his judgment, Jack pulls her in and steals her heart until she finally surrenders. But is he up for the challenge of picking up the pieces of Sarah’s broken heart? Can he carry her out of her rut?

Review
Loved, Loved, Loved!
Let me just say… I finished this book, and was working on another book and my mind is still with Jack! -sigh- So, yes… I still have a hangover, someone help me! Can you?
Hollyfield took us on a trip through heartbreak, depression, recovery, falling in love, romance, drama, humor… all in a short time in this book. I loved how it started out slow, and got to build with the story.
Jack, come on! He is an amazing character. Who doesn’t love a construction worker? He owns a company, he is successful, and a charmer.
Sarah realizes there is more to life than people crushing her heart. She is easy to connect with and also the narrator throughout, it is her story to tell.
I will definitely am stalking Ms. Hollyfield from now on! Go check this book out. You know you want to.

Review: The Celtic Fan

TheCelticFanTitle: The Celtic Fan
Publisher: Celtic Muse Publishing
Author: Deanndra Hall
Genre: Contemporary Romance

★ ☆★ ☆★ 5 Stars!

Summary
The Celtic Fan. It’s a number one bestseller on every list. It’s a love story for the ages. And it’s a mystery. At least its author is. Nick Roberts has never been seen. He doesn’t do interviews. He doesn’t answer fan mail. He doesn’t do late-night talk shows, or book signings, or conferences. No one knows who he is. Everyone is looking for him; websites have been set up offering rewards for finding him. Four old friends plan their annual road trip. It’s been a toss-up every year, with each being different (and some not so good). But this year Russ’s idea is to find Nick Roberts. With an address stolen from the accounting files of the publishing house that’s home to The Celtic Fan, the four friends set out to find the elusive Roberts and make names for themselves. And as three begin to get distracted – Russ by women, Michael by liquor, and Jim by porn or who knows what – only one stays the course: Steve Riley, a journalist from Knoxville, is determined to find Roberts and land the story of the century. His dedication to his mission is complicated by a deluge, a flash flood, and an obviously incorrect address. But as time has its way, Steve begins to wonder if his trip will be successful in other ways. And if his suspicions are correct, what will he do when they’re confirmed? Even more unsettling is the real question: If he finds Nick Roberts, will he tell? Set in the foothills of the beautiful Smokey Mountains, The Celtic Fan is two stories – the story of a journalist following his biggest story ever, and of a wounded soldier and the girl with whom he falls in love post-World War II. Throughout the pages, Bill and Claire’s tragic tale winds its way through Steve’s story, a sweet and sensual account he never thought he’d tell. Take the time to savor and enjoy his telling, and bring your tissues – you’ll need them.

Review
Man, Deanndra Hall does NOT disappoint you! I read the Me, You & Us series, and I am in love with this author! I will definitely be looking out for more of her work.
The Celtic Fan is such a touching book. It was definitely different, but I loved it. I loved how everything “fell” into place. It was really about being older, finding love, learning how to keep love from miles apart. It is about soul searching, building who you are again, and how to keep your feet on solid ground.
I also loved how you was reading about the characters, but you was also reading about “The Celtic Fan” at the end of each chapter. Having this at the end of each chapter didn’t over do the book either, it actually molded the book, and it linked everything together.
Steve, a journalist, and one of the four friends on an adventure to find Nick Roberts, stumbles upon Diana. Diana lives by herself, off a beaten path, but Steve finds she has a lot of secrets.
I really loved reading about the two stories in one, so to speak. I can not wait to read another book by Deanndra Hall!

Or will fate intervene, making their choices for them?

Review
I absoutely fell in love with Kasen, and Farrow. Who knew a “normal” book blogging girl could be swept off her feet by a celebrity?!
Kasen, Kasen, Kasen! Just oh my WOWs! We will get more to that in just a sex.. second.
Farrow, just an ordinary girl in the book blogging world, who won a chance to be the exclusive reporter and or blogger of a book made into a movie. How awesome would that be!? (insert day-dreaming here) She has access for the behind-the-scene footage, well the ones she could go to, and she got to meet a lot of celebrities. She got to the see the world of Hollywood, and their endless days or nights.
I loved Farrow’s ambitions, her character, and the way she is independent. I loved the corkiness, the flirting, and the friendship that formed between Kasen and Farrow. A lot of moments I was beyond smiling.
Kasen, such a sweet soul. I loved it when they went to see his mom, you could feel the love through the pages. At times during the book I wanted to hurt him, like maybe punch him in the arm, but hey.. I can just say -ugh, men!- but overall he is a romantic, and who doesn’t love that?
If you are looking for a sweet, easy, humor, and some romance then I would say try this book out! I have found another author that I love ❤ Maybe you will love the book just as much as I did…

Summary

She’s made herself a vow – no relationships. She’s trying to heal, not complicate her life further.

David Pearson has it all. Confidence, awesome friends, successful business. But, David’s dealt with loss too. He knows better than anyone not to judge by what’s on the surface.

Drawn to Lyric despite her inability to trust, he’ll do anything to own her heart.

Will secrets and misunderstandings send Lyric running again? Or will David finally save her from herself?

Review
Really loved Lyric’s story. Save Me From Myself was full of heartbreak, self-worth, determination, finding yourself and how to let go without being completely broken.
Lyric is such a strong, but yet insecure woman. She has been through so much in just a short amount of time, but she left her past behind to rebuild who she is.
David is a complete true man. He knows just what needs to be done to get the job done. He doesn’t let love blind him, and is completely the perfect guy. I loved his demeanor. He didn’t go looking for love, but love walked into his life; as goes for Lyric.
If you love easy, fun, rebuilding romance books, you definitely need to find this. I had no clue the ending would come out the way it did, it was really worth it.

Review: Breaking Up with Barrett @KatyRegnery

EnglishBrothers1Publisher: Self-Published
Author: Katy Regnery
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Series: The English Brothers

★ ☆★ ☆★ – 4 Stars

Summary
Breaking Up with Barrett is the first of six books about the Philadelphia-based, wildly-handsome English brothers who are all on the look-out for love.
(Except Alex. He’s a womanizing manwhore. And maybe Stratton, because he’s wicked hot, but super awkward around girls.)
Barrett English, aka “the Shark,” is the fair-haired, first-born of the English brothers, and the CEO of the oldest, most prestigious investment banking firm in Philadelphia. He rules the boardroom with an iron fist, refusing to take no for an answer and always getting his way.
Emily Edwards, a first-year doctoral student at the University of Pennsylvania, grew up in the gatehouse on the outskirts of Barrett’s childhood estate. The daughter of his family’s gardener and housekeeper, she was always looking through the window of privilege, but forced to remember her place at the very periphery of the kingdom.
When business partners suggest that a fiancee might soften Barrett’s image over business dinners, he approaches Emily for the “job” of fiancee. And while love wasn’t necessarily on Barrett’s radar, he begins to realize that Emily always has been. But will his take-no-prisoners boardroom tactics work on the heart of the woman he loves.

Review
I will start off by saying that I love Katy Regnery, really I do. I love how she writes. She brings you right into her work, and I just love that about her.
Barrett English and Emily Edwards are from different worlds. They have always grown up together since Emily was the gardener and housekeeper’s daughter, Emily is also a doctoral student at Uni, living with her best friend Val.. Barrett is the CEO of the family business. So, as you can see, his feelings for her couldn’t happen at any time, but at the right time, just for them.
One of the things that caught me off guard, that I really didn’t connect with was
He gasped softly, taking a deep breath before continuing. “I have always loved you. You were a tiny baby and I was a little boy and you reached into my chest and stole my heart and it’s been yours ever since.
I don’t know why this bothered me, maybe it being something of the fact that it was just weird. Sure, we all can fall in love, but he knew while she was still a baby, with him being 8 years older.. like he was stalking her the whole time, but she didn’t turn him “on” til years later. It took me back, maybe because I wasn’t expecting it. 4 years is usually where the comfort is, but hey.. this is new to me, and of course Katy pulled all this together.
When the story grew, I loved them both.. I just had to erase that part of the story and in my mind changed it to he fell in love with her as a “pre-twenty” lady, but always loved her as a childhood friend. Ha!
Now, don’t get me wrong, I will continue to read the series of books, because I want to know more! I want to know how everything turns out, and how all the English Brothers grow throughout the books. Can not wait to get to the rest of the series, and of course I will always keep you posted with my reviews.

She felt him gasp quietly, then shudder, and he pulled her tightly against him, as if to let his heart speak to her heart, and tell it, You belong to me, and I belong to you. Always. – 85% Kindle

Loved this! You could feel their connection, and I am so glad she has saved herself for when the time was right. There is not a lot of stories about losing your V Card, but Katy pulled it off! Their emotional connection is absolutely amazing, and it reminds me so much of my own marriage. I am glad she saw “stars” when she went stargazing, who doesn’t love that? Bring on Fitz!!

Summary
In this modern-retelling of “Beauty and the Beast,” Savannah Carmichael, betrayed by an unreliable source, returns to her hometown of Danvers, Virginia with her once-promising journalism career in ruins. Given the opportunity to get back in the game by writing a patriotic human interest piece, Savannah turns her attention to the town hermit, Asher Lee, a wounded veteran who returned to Danvers eight years ago, and hasn’t been seen since.

After an IED explosion in Afghanistan took Asher’s hand and disfigured half of his face, he’s lived a quiet life on the outskirts of Danvers where the locals respect his privacy…that is, until Savannah Carmichael comes calling in a borrowed sundress with a plate of homemade brownies. When Asher agrees to be interviewed by Savannah, he starts feeling things for the beautiful reporter that he hasn’t felt in years.

Misfits in small-town Danvers, Savannah and Asher create a bond right away, touching each other’s hearts in ways neither thought possible. When a terrible mistake threatens to drive them apart, they’ll have to decide if the love they found in one another’s arms is strong enough to fight for their hard-won happily ever after.

Review
Touching, emotional, inspiring… I completely read this book with a country narrator in my mind, maybe similar to the Forrest Gump movie. The southern drawl is something that pulls the book straight out of where I am from. I absolutely loved the hospitality from the words, it creates such a wonderful picture while you read this book, it pulls you right into the book.
Mrs. Katy Regnery is an extraordinary writer.
Asher, he is raw, scarred, but yet still has soft edges even with being a victim inside his own home, he has been away from the public eye since being stared at like a monster. I could not imagine fighting for your country to come home to such distastefulness.
Savannah, she has such a sweet charm. She is trying to get her career back in order, and mending her emotional needs. She came back home to “lick her wounds” just as Asher.
The tears, I will admit.. I cried, sobbed like a baby. The emotional connection in this book is just amazing. The characters draw you in, gobble you up, and you beg for more. You are in line with what the feelings, emotions, and if you have ever been in love, or fell in love in just a short time, you will understand the raw emotions this book puts you through.
I love the fact that this isn’t just another “romance” but it is about love, military (which by the way our own family will be graduating basic training soon), and finding who you are again.. even after such devastation from both The Vixen and The Vet.
This book is such an awesome read, especially if you love romance. It would not disappoint you, at all!

As charming as the house he’s taken over, Will pushes past the reserve that has kept Penn from living the brave life she craves. And one December night in the house she used to love in the town she used to adore changes everything.

Review
Loved every page of this short novella. Melissa Tagg is an amazing author, and this book is definitely worth the read. It is sweet, light, fun, comical, and romantic all rolled up into 38 pages. I would recommend this to anyone who wants something sweet, easy and fun to read. I loved getting to know Penn, she is corky, funny, and predictable… or is she!? Will love to read more about her, and will even check out the rest of the series.

Review
As most of you know I took a sho—long break from reading, and I am finally back up and running. Off Sides is the first book I picked up since coming back around. I have to say that Sawyer Bennett kept me reading more with this first book to the “Off” Series.
Danny (Danielle) is a waitress, volunteer, and a college student all rolled into one amazing person. The main male model in the book is Ryan, a captain Hockey player, and has more money than he knows what to do with. This book hit me square in reality, and for that I need to invest in the other books to get to grow more with the characters.
I loved the way the characters built during the process of reading this book, but it definitely leaves you wanting to know more about Ryan and Danny.
Thank you so much for showing me another book, and into another escape.

We walk to my Range Rover that Danny had driven today. She hands me the keys and I open the door to let her in. Before she steps in, I stop her and she looks at me. She has purple bruising over her right cheekbone. I reach my fingers out and skim over it gently. She closes her eyes at the touch. -80% Kindle

obs: It’s a sequel from RULES OF NEGOTIATION

Review
Let me just say, I did not read the first book. However, that did not change anything. This book could definitely be a stand-alone.
This was a different read than what I have been reading, and I loved it! The setting, the mood, the suspense on how everything would work out… BRILLIANT!  The storyline takes off right in the beginning, so you will never want to stop, seriously.
Melissa is so down-to-Earth, charming, sexy, and learns to be independent. I loved reading about her, and her emotions throughout the book was so strong. Garth was the bold, successful guy who only wanted to focus on his fame, and make sure no real relationship existed. The chemistry between the characters was so real. Real in meaning, they could easily be watched right out your front door.
I truly enjoyed this book, and I would recommend this to anyone who loves a swoon, fun, emotional, suspenseful romance. As for Ms. Scott, where have you been? I absolutely loved your work, and I can’t wait to read more!

“Love didn’t ask permission. It wasn’t sensible or logical. It did as it wished, and damn the consequences”

About the Author
I wrote my first book when I was in high school–a romance called “A Wild and Stormy Passion,” which featured swordplay, kidnapping, a pirate heroine, and lots of naughty bits (that came entirely from my adolescent imagination!). Since then, I’ve written young adult novels and adult romances of the category, contemporary, and fantasy varieties. My books are romantic, sensual, and unconventional.
I am a dabbler and an emotional sponge. I can’t read scary books or anything with an unhappy ending. I reserve the right to enjoy country music, puppies, true love, and happily ever after.
If you’re perusing my Goodreads shelves, you should know I only review books I want to share the word about. If you ask me, life’s too short to read something you don’t enjoy.

But will it be enough?

Review
I loved the first book of this series: Againat the Odds: A Love Story, it was so powerful; however, I lost that power in this read. Something was missing, maybe Adams was trying to make this a series, and had to rush to get it done. I wish there was more to the book/plot, and a more of a sequel to the first book. This book put you years later with no real change. Unrealistic on a lot of things, I don’t know I just didn’t feel for it like I did with the first one.
My opinion: I think it would have been a better touch if we jumped into Joy’s world and how she prayed. The Joy situation just felt very unrealistic as well. However, the love Hayden & Raine have is so great! I love reading about them.
Adams’ writing style is awesome, I just wish the book had more heat, passion, and love.

About the Author
(Jewel) Adams stays crazy busy with her family and writing. She has written several books in different genres and is also a motivational speaker to both youth and adult audiences. She home schools her four kids that are still at home, and between that and conjuring up new ideas for her books, her brain is completely fried most of the time. She and her husband Sean are the parents of eight children, which means they are both losing hair, but hey, that’s what Rogaine is for, right? In her spare time (when she has any) she likes to curl up with a good book and a healthy stash of orange Tic Tacs. She and her family reside in Utah. Jewel loves hearing from her fans, so if you would like to contact her to tell her how much you love her books or give her sympathy for the fried brain, or suggestions for the hair loss problem (for my husband, of course)
